Siargao Island is a teardrop shaped gem in the province of Surigao del Norte. Its coastline has reefs, corals, and white sandy beaches. Siargao Island contains one of the largest mangrove forest reserves in Mindanao. The Indo-Pacific saltwater crocodiles also reside in the area. These small islands surround Siargao: Guyam Island, Pansukian or Naked Island, and Dako Island. Island-hopping tours include these places in their packages for tourists. Siargao Island is world famous for “Cloud 9” – one of the more well-known surfing spots in the Philippines. It has thick, hollow tubes. This right-breaking reef wave is the site of the annual Siargao Cup. This domestic and international surfing competition is sponsored by the provincial government of Surigao del Norte.
